Volunteers in this role write content for our website and social media channels and help communicate our conservation messages to an international audience.
Topics may include reporting on any of the seven species of porpoise and related conservation issues, or coverage of the society’s programs.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Develop Content Ideas
With the input from other volunteers and the society's experts, volunteers develop content ideas on topics relevant to the society's mission.
- Background Research
Volunteers conduct background research on the topics and collect references (e.g. press coverage, published scientific research) and work with other volunteers to add publications to the society's bibliographical database.
Volunteers draft articles, which are submitted for review by the society's scientific advisors.
Writing experience and a background in or connection to biology/science to understand the issues we are working on is strongly recommended.
- Computer and Internet Access
Volunteers must have access to a computer and a fast broadband Internet connection.
- Time Commitment
No fixed time commitment, but if a project is associated with a deadline and a timeline has been discussed agreed on, a volunteer should endeavour to meet those time expectations.
- No Training
Training is not necessary for this role.
