Abstract

The skull and incomplete skeleton of a specimen of Phocoena sinus from the Gulf of California are described and compared with specimens of P. phocoena and P. spinipinnis. The skeleton of the specimen is the first to become available for description and from it and from the skull additional specific criteria have been determined that support the status given to this rare species by Norris & McFarland.
